Who should take the MS-101: Microsoft 365 Mobility and Security exam?

This exam is for you if you are a Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator. This role requires you to evaluate, plan, deploy, and migrate Microsoft 365 services. It also needs you to perform Microsoft 365 Tenant Management Tasks for an enterprise that includes its security, compliance, identities, and supporting technologies.

The MS-101: Microsoft 365 Mobility and Security certification exam is one of the two exams required to earn the credential of a Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, the other one being MS-100: Microsoft 365 Identity and Services.

To be eligible to take any of the MS-100 or MS-101 certification exams, you have to earn one of these credentials:

• Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate
• Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate

What are the prerequisites for the MS-101 exam?

The recommended prerequisites for taking the MS-101 exam include:

• Practical knowledge of Microsoft 365 workloads
• Administrative experience with Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, Windows 10 deployment, or at least one of these.
• Hands-on with IT Fundamentals including Active Directory, PowerShell, and DNS
• Working knowledge of Server Administration and Networking

What skills will be measured in the MS-101: Microsoft 365 Identity and Services exam?

The various exam domains and objectives along with their weightage follow:

• Planning and implementing device services: This section covers around 35-40% of the exam objectives. It includes the planning for device management, device monitoring, configuration profiles, co-management between intune and Endpoint configuration Manager, implementation of the Microsoft Endpoint Manager, and more.
• Manage security and threats by using Microsoft 365 Defender: This section covers 25-30% of the exam. It involves managing security reports,planning, implementing and manging email collaboration protection & endpoint protection and more.
• Manage Microsoft 365 compliance: This domain covers around 30-35% of the exam questions. This includes management of the incident investigation, information governance & protection, implementing data loss prevention(DLP) and implementing retention labels.
