Scenario
Computer Science Department of IIT Delhi runs a course on Data Structures as a part of its engineering curriculum. This course is available to students of all the Departments. More than 150 students want to opt for this course but there is a limitation on the number of students who can enroll for the course. Therefore it was not possible for every student to get enrollment into the course. IIT wanted to lift this cap upwards but found it difficult to do so.

Problem
Assessment is one of the critical parts of the entire curriculum. After analyzing the reasons for limited enrollment in the course, it was found out that a professor faces problems in assessing more than a certain number of students in the class. This problem can be solved if the assessment part of the course gets automated. IIT is very particular about the quality of assessment. They were not ready to shift to automated objective testing if it is reducing the quality of skill assessment. A solution was required that could automate the process without compromising the quality of assessment.

How Whizlabs helped IIT Delhi?
Whizlabs conducted a study with IIT - Delhi to identify new type of objective questions, which can automate the testing process without affecting its quality. And the results suggest that it is very much possible to automate that testing. Whizlabs designed new question types with in built algorithms for various data structures. Training was conducting in IIT-Delhi on how to use new system and finally new assessment system was installed in the IIT-Delhi. IIT- Delhi conducted the first quiz on the new system in March'2003.
