Are Reasons Valid Enough For You To Look For A Change?

No one is perfect, be it a manager, or a senior member or a junior member. No company or organization is bad it is people who make it good or bad. So before saying “enough is enough, I cannot take it anymore, I want to quit”, list down all the issues and challenges you are facing in your current company.

Ask few questions to yourself before you decided to look for change

  • Is your qualification matching with your current profile?
  • Do you enjoy your work?
  • Are you recognized by your senior management for your good work?
  • Are you respected by your team and peers in your company?
  • Are you able to create a balance between your work and personal life?
  • Are you using latest technology, learning new things and improving your market value?
  • Is your company’s 3 year road map, promising for you?
  • Is your reporting manager satisfied with your performance or behaviour?
  • Is your salary meeting your expectations in terms of salaries of people with similar profile and experience in the market?

If you answered “yes” to 5 out 9 questions mentioned above then there is no need for you to look for a change. It is seen that most of the employees change their job because of their reporting manager. This is completely an incorrect decision because people related issues can be found in every organization. And if you are under impression that your manager is the worst manager you have ever came across to, then believe me you are wrong. Talk to your 20-30 close friends, you would find 100 more people worse than your manager. So changing the job just because of one person is a decision where you might end up repenting only.

If you feel that you are not growing in your current profile and there is little or no scope of growth as well then you can look for a change. But keep the following things in your mind before accepting the offer

  • Is it satisfying your primary reason for the change?
  • Can this company add some value to your resume?
  • How old is this company?
  • Do they have a healthy work environment?

Some Tips

  • You review the job description, know that you fulfill the job requirements.
  • Go through the official website to know more about the company’s past and present.
  • Check on social media groups have a word with some resources working with this employer. Try to as much extract information as you can from at least 5 to 6 people, before concluding anything.

Some people want to earn at any cost, don’t go by salary, look for what opportunity does that job offer you? Is your profile or role provides challenging tasks and scope for learning new things? Remember money is not everything in life, peace of mind and job satisfaction plays an important role in the success of each individual. There are people who work day and night and want to earn as much as they can. They aim to reach very high in very short span of time. It is good to be ambitious but over confidence and wrong decision can ruin one’s career. So be very careful while taking sensitive decisions like resigning and joining the other employer.

Since you are taking an important and critical decision of leaving your current employer, you have to be very sure about your new employer so that you don’t repent later on.
